Śūnyatā Heart
 (Mặc Không Tử)

Since renouncing city life,

a Buddha’s disciple moved to the mountain,

Ordinary life left behind.

Making her best decision yet,

Vowing to write the Buddha's teachings onto the palm leaves,

Planting the Buddha's teachings in every person's heart,

Unwaveringly waiting for the fragrant flowers of the mind-garden to bloom.

Since leaving the ordinary behind,

Holding the Dharma as her only companion,

Heeding words from the silence,

Uncovering the meanings of the lessons,

Together day by day,

A pure heart leading to the Path of Liberation.

Since a Buddha's disciple has left oneself, others aside,

Her care towards sentient beings is the Śūnyatā way;

Expectations left behind,

Nothing has been in return for her acts.

Finally, she comprehended the Buddha's smile,

His Śūnyatā smile at the Śūnyatā world.
